I've been asked to chose a w
ord from a list of 28 words to produce a poster. From the given list of words to work with I think 'Provoke' was the most intriguing, because every image provokes a reaction; regardless of good or bad, there is always a reaction. I've chosen to provoke the viewer, to challenge their perception and exercise my practice as a storyteller to create a void where the viewer can lose them-self and arrive at their own conclusion. In my view images aren't the slaves of beauty or decorative artefacts, but possibilities to communicate more meaningful and ambiguous subject matter. My role as a designer is to celebrate the image but also to offer up content for the viewer to consider and ponder, it is essential to me that I use this freedom of speech/space to communicate my ideas about the world that surrounds me. The image isn't just a dead beauty, but something that has a life and reason to exist elsewhere: on streets or walls or within the mind provoking discussion. Here is the image as a Mirror.

This poster was exhibited at SEA Gallery from 14-20 September 2006 and shown on its own at Harvey Nichols from the 25 Sept-6 Oct 2006. The exhibition then tour internationally.
