It's not better in the Bahamas.
Silkscreen printed sweatshirt and tee-shirts, 2006.

In 1977, the Bahamas conducted an effective tourism promotional campaign using the slogan: "It's Better in The Bahamas." It was printed on everything at the time: tshirts, caps, hats, sunglasses, coconuts.. everywhere in the Bahamas. Almost inevitably the campaign included photos of white sandy beaches adorned with beautiful young women in revealing swim suits... the simple dreams of the late 1970s.

But is it really better in the Bahamas? The islands are one of the primary offshore tax havens, a place with strict financial and banking secrecy. It still imposes little or no taxes on foreign investors and bank account holders. The slogan was a big success, one of those catch-phrases that stick in your mind (palm trees, girls and sand, the innuendo is complete). "Sun, sea and sex", why would it be better in the Bahamas? well, if you were interested in the answer the invite was very clear.
